Clients or yourself? 8 days to test it being US.

Working on clients projects is how we keep the servers and lights working. Working on our own offerings is how we get clients. So the question is which is the more important?

www.commercialnoise.com has sat unfinished for close to 18 months now. In that time it has had more then a few half baked designs tossed up and never fleshed out. The problem is a simple matter of time. Right now there are 9 clients in verious stages of completion, which is great. They all need our full dedication and effort to be completed on time and on budget, but then what? After those are gone we will have more, I am meeting with two potential clients this week in fact, but at some point we will need to be able to hand a potential client a card with our web address on it and say “this is what we do.” if we were to do that today it could be a disaster.

With this in mind we have moved back every client project for the next 8 days and will focus on getting OUR little corner of the web in shape to show at least a little of what we can do here. Now this move has been planned and timed to not effect any deadlines or on going projects but it is still a strange conversation when you tell a client they wont see anything for 10 to 12 days because we are working on our own stuff for the next 8 days.

As with any small business its always a balance between working on your own stuff VS working on clients work. Gooing forward here at commercial noise we are going to try many different ways of doing this I am sure. The current model we had been using for the last year and a half hasn’t worked so its time to try something different. Today we got our 10 currently active client, the client is “commercial noise” its a small internet marketing company. They will get placed in timeliness along all our other active clients and get resources allocated just like everyone else. The hope would be that doing it this way our brand will continue to grow and flourish and not end up looking tired and forgotten.

To our current clients, sorry to put you on hold for these 8 days but we promise it wont effect deadlines AT ALL. To any potential clients, internet marketing is what we do and we want to do it well. Perception is reality and we want our reality to look as good as it should.

jquery is amazing

I was a holdout. I didnt want to build pages for the internet that depended on crazy javascript to really work. Until i finaly realized how powerful it was and how it wouod allow a simple boring site to become great. Or how it could allow me to spend 20 minutes doing what would take weeks if it was even possible doing it some other way.

Combine this with css3 and html 5 the web is becoming an accessible version of what flash promised so many years ago.

The commercial noise blog is LIVE!

This is the first non-test post for the commercial noise blog. As they say time flys when your having fun, and it flys faster when it’s noisy fun. For the last year commercial noise has been working on projects and ignoring our own brand. Rather then keep our brand on hold any longer we are now launching the new site over the next week and the new blog today. The look of both the main site and the new blog will change over the next several months with out question but for now we desperately needed a place to let our voice been heard.

Watch and listen for changes coming fast and loud. We are going to continue to push the cutting edge in search marketing, while expanding our offerings into other related areas. We are focused on becoming a full service web marketing company allowing us to serve every need of our clients.

One large deficit we have seen in the current market is a simple way for small businesses to get an ecommerce site online. Many small businesses know they need to be online but are not sure how to get there and how to make it affordable. We have filled that need with our ruby on rails framework that allows us to rapidly get an ecommerce site online that is both easy to maintain and search friendly from the ground up.

In other cases clients need a simple site that let’s them reach out to their current clients on a regular basis with out the need to call a developer for every update. Again we have found a solution using ruby on rails that allows us to build a site that’s maintainable by our clients with even the most basic level of computer knowledge.

With everything we do being focused on search we have a unique view of the web landscape. We design everything for our clients to better exposure in search, no matter if it’s paid search, natural search, social networking, article marketing, keyword research, or any other aspect of search we are ready to help you dominate.
